Students in IDA visiting artist Favianna Rodriguez's class, "Show Me Your Papers," have spent the past nine weeks researching issues in immigration, learning printmaking techniques, and creating original pieces promoting migrant rights. None of them are studio art majors, but all have created outstanding work. And now they are getting national attention. This morning the Huffington Post published an article about the class and the importance of art in the current atmosphere of anti-migrant prejudice.
Student art from "Show Me Your Papers" will be on display in Harmony House beginning Tuesday, June 5th and a celebration will take place from 2 to 4 PM.
