We present acclaimed filmmaker Jason Aragón, whose movie "Under Arpaio" has sparked an important national conversation about immigration, the criminal justice system, and racial profiling. Telling the story of Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio and the community resistance to his draconian law enforcement.

Under Arpaio features activists, low-income residents, attorneys, reporters, elected officials, and indigenous people who speak truth to power. In the face of all of this, the community targeted by Arpaio has not stood still but has organized and continues to fight. This is their story of struggle against one of the most well-known law enforcement figures in recent U.S. history.

Jason has also been documenting the urgent student struggles against the state of Arizona's ban on Mexican American Studies and ethnic studies. He will screen clips from "Under Arpaio" and from his film coverage of the student walkouts, and bring you up-to-date on the latest in this important frontline of Arizona.

Hosted by IDA Visiting Artist Favianna Rodriguez.
