Apr 30 2019

IDA FELLOWSHIP 19-20

The Institute for Diversity in the Arts + the Committee on Black Performing Arts (IDA + CBPA) is bringing together a team of imaginative fellows who are passionate about the role of cultural workers at the intersection of community-based arts practice and social justice. We are a creative community committed to art, disruption, transformation, and justice. Together we work to advance and support creativity, cultural equity, and healing for marginalized communities. We actively center narratives of the colonized and other marginalized voices in and through our work. We do this because we are working to create the world we want to experience.

IDA trains and supports undergraduates in visionary arts leadership through stewarding the power of the arts toward social justice. We believe that the arts are a powerful means for empowering oppressed and marginalized communities, dismantling oppressive structures, and building more sustainable futures. We at IDA + CBPA affirm that we are committed to always struggling toward creating and preserving a space that is welcoming and fosters transformative expression, as well as provides the possibility of healing and growth in an environment of care and empathy, reciprocity, and mutuality.
